SCENE 01 / LED WALL VIRTUAL

LED Wall Virtual Production

In-camera visual effects for your Colombian production.

Scroll

Here is how this works in practice. LED wall virtual production uses large LED display volumes to project real-time rendered environments behind performers, replacing traditional green screen with photorealistic in-camera backgrounds. Colombia's studio capacity has grown fast: TIS Studios in Bogotá (75% Paramount-owned) operates many stages with standing sets, RCN runs the largest soundstage in Latin America and Caracol produces global Netflix titles such as Eva Lasting from its Bogotá complex.

Here is the short of it. We connect you with LED wall facilities and Unreal Engine teams in Bogotá and Medellín, supported by post houses including LAMUVI Films, Colour Studio, WhereNext and Enjoy Digital. Our team sets up stage booking, virtual art department resources and Colombia Film Law incentives (CINA up to 35%, plus Proimágenes Colombia rebates) so your project has a complete ICVFX pipeline.

On Location

Brompton + ROE imported via DIAN ATA carnet plus Mexico City and Buenos Aires partner LED facilities

Here is the layout. LED wall virtual production in Colombia is a partnership-augmented offering rather than a like-for-like alternative to the LA or London volumes. Brompton Tessera processors and ROE Visual, AOTO and Infinity Sets LED panels are imported via DIAN ATA carnet on a project-by-project basis, paired with Mo-Sys StarTracker, Vicon and OptiTrack camera tracking for in-camera VFX work at Toma Uno Bogotá's emerging stage and the Dynamo Studios floor as that build comes online. ARRI Alexa Mini LF and Sony Venice 2 bodies — sourced through Cinetech Bogotá and 5.

Here is how the picture comes together. 1 Cine — handle in-camera VFX capture, with ZED, Pixotope and disguise media servers driving synchronisation between Unreal Engine 5 environments and the tracked camera. For shoots that need a full mature LED volume on a Colombia-anchored schedule, our coordinators arrange partner-stage windows at Estudios GGM and Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City or Buenos Aires LED facilities (Non Stop, Sky Online), with talent and key creative movement co-produced under the Acuerdo Iberoamericano de Coproducción.

Here is what we have to work with. Virtual art departments draw from Encanto-era Colombian animation talent at Pixelio Animation Studios Medellín, Limonero Films' fresh ideas arm and the Universidad de los Andes Centro Ático Lab research partnership, with photoreal Cartagena Walled City digital matte plates, Caño Cristales, Tayrona and Eje Cafetero virtual locations, García Márquez magical-realism environments and pre-Columbian Quimbaya, Tairona and Muisca motif libraries all running ready for in-volume playback.

Here is the layout. Pre-visualisation, asset creation and stage rehearsal feed into principal photography, with the wall giving realistic eye reflections, surface highlights and interactive lighting on talent. Qualifying spend on LED rental, VAD build-out, oversight fees and tracking gear routes through the CINA 40% cash refund and the FFC 35% tax credit. Proimágenes Colombia and the Comisión Fílmica Colombiana handle the forms, and DIAN ATA carnet records covers the gear flow across the production calendar.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LED wall virtual production?

LED wall virtual production (also called ICVFX - In-Camera Visual Effects) uses large LED displays to show real-time rendered environments behind actors. The camera captures both performers and background in-camera, giving realistic lighting and reflections.

What are the advantages over green screen?

LED walls give realistic lighting that illuminates actors naturally, capture accurate reflections in eyes and surfaces, and allow actors to see the environment they're performing in. Results are captured in-camera, reducing post-prod VFX work.

What kind of environments can you create?

Here is the breakdown. Virtually any environment—from authentic Colombian locations such as Cartagena's walled city, the Andes, the Amazon and Coffee Region landscapes to sci-fi worlds and historical periods. Environments can be built from photogrammetry of real Colombian sites or designed from scratch in Unreal Engine.

Do you have LED stages in Colombia?

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Yes. We work with virtual production capable facilities at TIS Studios, RCN Studios and Caracol Studios in Bogotá. This includes the largest soundstage in Latin America at RCN, and can set up short-term LED volume installations when a custom setup is needed.

How does camera tracking work?

Camera tracking systems measure the camera's exact position and rotation in real-time, allowing the virtual environment to respond with correct parallax as the camera moves. This creates convincing perspective shifts.

What's involved in pre-production?

Virtual production needs major pre-production—building digital environments, planning camera moves, and tech setup. Starting early allows time to develop assets and iterate on creative decisions.

Productions in Colombia that need this often pair it with Virtual Production, AR Production, and Motion Control Filming for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Cinema Lens Kits and TV & Film Production Services.
