Here is the run-down. Colombia is the only South American country bordering both the Caribbean. The Pacific, with the Amazon basin and the Magdalena and Apaporis river systems layered on top — and our underwater camera ops cover all three water types under one set up unit.

Here is what we have to work with. Caribbean diving runs from Cartagena's Bocagrande coast out to the Islas del Rosario (a 30-minute boat transfer, with the underwater coral park inside PNN Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo), down the coast to Tayrona's covered coves, and offshore to the San Andrés y Providencia archipelago — the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, with some of the clearest visibility in the Caribbean basin and a marine biodiversity equal to Belize. Pacific work centers on Bahía Solano and Nuquí in the Chocó department, where humpback whale migration runs July through October and Inspire Colombia's underwater team keeps a dive-and-cinema unit operating out of Bahía Málaga.

Here is the layout. River and freshwater pros shoot the Río Apaporis (Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Ciro Guerra's Embrace of the Serpent location), the Amazon basin around Leticia, and the Magdalena lowland wetlands. All operators hold pro PADI, CMAS, or SSI certifications set for the filming depth, with commercial dive credentials for shoots running below 30m.

Here is how the work shapes up. Camera packages start with SeaCam underwater housings for ARRI Alexa Mini LF (the standard for theatrical work) and extend through Gates housings for RED Komodo, V-Raptor, and Sony Venice 2 bodies, plus Nauticam systems for Sony FX9 / FX6 hybrid documentary work and GoPro Hero 12 Black + DJI Osmo Action 4 packages for B-cam and POV coverage. Lighting runs Keldan Video 8X and Light & Motion Sola Pro LED underwater units in waterproof housings rated to 60m, with surface bounce setups for shallow Caribbean pool-clear water and dedicated underwater HMI packages for deeper Pacific work where particulate density is higher.

Here is how it adds up. Safety rigs have certified safety divers (minimum 1:1 ratio for actor-in-water sequences), hyperbaric chamber standby in Cartagena and San Andrés, surface-supplied air for extended shot lengths, and dive computers logged against project insurance. Permits cover ANLA biodiversity sign-off for PNN Corales del Rosario, Tayrona, and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta marine zones. Cabildo consents are set up for Wayuu coastal zones in La Guajira and indigenous community waters in the Apaporis.
