Feature Film Production

Here is the run-down. Colombia in the last decade has become one of Latin America's most credible feature-film origins, with Ciro Guerra's Embrace of the Serpent earning the 2015 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination, Cristina Gallego and Guerra's Birds of Passage, Alejandro Landes's Monos taking Sundance's World Cinema Special Jury Prize in 2019, Laura Mora's Los Reyes del Mundo winning the 2022 San Sebastián Golden Shell, Franco Lolli's Litigante premiering in Cannes Critics' Week, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Tilda Swinton-led Memoria (2021 Cannes Jury Prize) shot fully in Bogotá, Pijao, and the Eje Cafetero.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. We give full-service feature support drawing on the same crew network. DPs trained alongside David Gallego (Embrace of the Serpent, Memoria), gaffers and key grips with feature credits at Dynamo, 64-A Films, Rhayuela, Sambia, Burning Blue, and Antorcha, and department heads who know Cartagena, the Amazon basin around Leticia, the Sierra Nevada, and the Pacific Chocó from prior shoots.

Here is how the picture comes together. On the funding and incentive stack, Colombia runs two distinct mechanisms our team helps structure. CINA (Certificado de Inversión Audiovisual) delivers a 40 percent cash refund on qualified Colombian services plus 20 percent on logistics for global shoots structured through a Colombian service firm — applied for through Proimágenes Colombia and processed against logged qualified spend. FFC (Film Fund Certificate) gives a 35 percent transferable tax credit against Colombian income tax, gated on a cultural-points test administered by the Comisión Fílmica Colombiana, and stackable with FDC (Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico) development and production grants for Colombian and minority-co-pro features.

Here is what we have to work with. We set up Ibermedia and Eurimages co-production forms where applicable, MinCultura permitting for heritage-location shoots, PNN ranger access for covered-area work, ANLA site-level clearances, indigenous-cabildo consent on Wayuu, Arhuaco, and Kogi area, and the festival-finishing path through FICCI Cartagena (Latin America's oldest, since 1960), BAM Bogotá Audiovisual Market, and the Cannes / San Sebastián / Sundance / Berlin route Colombian features now always land.
